The Telford-based company garnered six gold medals, three silvers, and a bronze at the International Cheese & Dairy Awards, which are considered the Oscars of the dairy industry.
This remarkable medal haul, the best in the company’s five-year history, follows their victory at the Shropshire Chamber’s business awards, where Bridge Cheese was crowned champion for excellence in manufacturing and engineering.
Managing Director Michael Harte attributed the awards success to the outstanding efforts of the entire 80-strong team at the Stafford Park company.
“We were absolutely overjoyed to perform so spectacularly at the International Cheese & Dairy Awards, which represent the pinnacle of success in our industry.
“We won gold medals for our extra mature white Cheddar, Irish mild colored Cheddar, mild white Cheddar, Piri Piri ropes, Mozzarella, and smokey cheese mix. Our Irish mature Cheddar, smoked pizza mix, and heat resistant mature Cheddar won silver, and our mild mature Cheddar earned a bronze.
“Having independent judges at such a prestigious show award us these high honors is a significant vote of confidence in our efforts and a tremendous credit to every member of the Bridge Cheese family.”
The awards came just days after the Shropshire Business Awards, where the company was honored for excellence in manufacturing and engineering. Technical Manager Emily Rowles was also shortlisted for the best young businessperson title.
“The Shropshire award is a real highlight for us, as we are very proud to be based in Telford and to contribute to the success of the county,” said Michael. “Receiving an award from our peers that recognizes our outstanding customer service, bespoke and flexible approach, commitment to innovation, focus on staff wellbeing and sustainability, and superb leadership and organization is a huge honor.
“We were also thrilled that Emily made the finalists for the young businessperson award because her growth from technical assistant to a valued member of our senior management team has been remarkable.”
Bridge Cheese has grown from a startup just over five years ago to a company with a £30 million turnover and 80 employees today.
