Monmouthshire Building Society wins an Impact 100 Award
The Society’s governance team won the award ahead of household names such as Sainsbury’s and Shell
Monmouthshire Building Society has won an Impact 100 Award, recognising the people and teams shaping the future of the governance profession across the UK, Ireland, and the Channel Islands.
The Building Society received the Governance Impact – Small Team Award, which celebrates professionals and teams that drive high standards, strengthen decision making, enhance transparency, manage risk and support long-term organisational success.
Head of Governance and Company Secretary Allison Currie and Assistant Company Secretary Karen Harris were recognised for leading a far-reaching governance transformation programme to strengthen Board effectiveness, streamline processes and embedded a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Their award submission highlighted a programme of work that modernised and simplified the Society’s governance framework, enhanced Board effectiveness and culture, created a sustainable delivery model within a two-person team, and introduced new technologies to improve efficiency, insight and decision making.
In securing the award, Monmouthshire Building Society was recognised as the category winner among a field that included leading organisations such as Monzo, Sainsbury’s, Shell, Ocado and Airbnb.
Allison Currie said of the win: “We are delighted that our small team at Monmouthshire Building Society has received this recognition, particularly as the work was delivered without additional budget, resources or external support. While the nomination was submitted in Karen’s and my name, this award reflects the contribution of many colleagues across the Society.
“Given the confidential nature of much of our Board and regulatory-related work, the submission captured only a snapshot of the impact achieved across the Society. The support, challenge and collaboration we receive from the Board, alongside colleagues across Risk and Compliance and the wider Society, have been instrumental in helping us achieve these outcomes.”
